Wintertime in Wisconsin

Let me preface this post by saying that I know it’s a bit late. The motto around our house these days is “some is better than none”, and instead of forgoing a winter post entirely, it’s simply going to be a few months late. Although, if I’m being completely honest, I’m ready to exit winter and charge into spring with full force at this point!

These past few months have been filled with wonderful moments spent together feeling appreciative for our love and proximity to family.

Kids’ First Snow
It snowed for the first time a few months ago, and Liesl was fascinated by it. She wanted to help Pete shovel the snow, but we didn’t have a shovel small enough for her! (We have since gotten a kiddy snow shovel so Liesl can “help” with future snowfalls.) It’s kind of amazing how kids learn new words when they’re immersed in unfamiliar situations like this. Since the snow arrived, Liesl has learned words like snow, snowman, mittens, Santa Claus, and reindeer.

Christmastime
When we put up our tree this year, we were able to put ornaments on the lower portion of it! August wasn’t walking yet to grab them, and Liesl had no desire to play with them. She helped put the lights and ornaments on the tree, which she really enjoyed.

Christmas morning was a fun affair in our household. It’s such a treat to see the wonder and joy in your children’s eyes when they wake up to all the fun and presents that wait them.

I hope to share an update on August soon, as our little guy will be turning one year old in six short weeks. How did this past year fly by so quickly?
