38 Weeks: A Big Baby Girl?

Okay, now I’m scared. Here’s how the discussion with the doctor went today at our 38 week appointment.

Doc: “So, how big were both of you as babies?”

Me: “I was just over 10 pounds, and he was nearly 10 pounds. I was hoping that our baby would be about 8 pounds or so.”

The doctor literally laughed out loud and said, “At least 8 pounds!”

Apparently, after a thorough examination, Baby Bier is not only long — she appears to be a chunky monkey. It’s kind of intimidating to think about giving birth to a baby that big! Perhaps if shes a little bit bigger and less fragile, we won’t have to worry about Pete mistaking her for a football and throwing her around the house.

(Note how Pete not only got the American flag in the picture (appropriate, considering this is Labor Day weekend), but he made sure to include the Army flag as well… Boys.)

38 Weeks Pregnant

Pregnancy Q&A

How far along? 38 weeks

Best moment this week: Replacing my wedding ring with a blingy, elastic-band ring. Now I’ll no longer look like an unwed pregnant lady. 😉

Total weight gain/loss: 33 pounds gained

Stretch marks? Nope

Movement: I’ve been feeling very strong movements up high in my belly at the top of my ribs and very low in my abdomen. Sometimes they’re so strong they literally move my whole body side to side (if I’m sitting down).

Food cravings: I don’t have a huge appetite right now, so I’m not craving anything in particular.

Anything making you queasy or sick? No

Labor signs: I’ve felt the occasional, painful contraction, but nothing besides that. She hasn’t dropped yet and no dilation.

Belly button in or out? In

Wedding rings on or off? Rings are off and temporarily replaced with my fabulous bling-bling flower ring.

Happy or moody most of the time? Happy, with the occasional cry session at the end of the day (hormones sure do a number of you during pregnancy!).

Looking forward to: I’m actually looking forward to experiencing labor. For those of you that have had kids, you’re probably thinking, “Ha! Roookie…” But it’s true! I’m looking forward to seeing what all the fuss is about, and getting the show on the road. I’m getting my mind right for when the time comes.
